A Universal Code
The Seven Noahide Laws
At the dawn of creation, G‑d gave humanity a sacred code — seven laws transmitted through Noah for the sustenance of civilization. Anyone who lives by these rules, acknowledging that they are what G‑d wants of us, is considered righteous — a builder with a share in the world as it is meant to be.
The Seven Laws
Acknowledge the Creator
Do not worship false gods
Worship only the One Creator, who renews Creation at every moment in infinite wisdom, being life for each thing.
Respect the Creator
Do not blaspheme
Show no disrespect for the Creator. This includes reverence for the beauty and life of all Creation.
Respect Human Life
Do not murder
Each human being comprises an entire world. To save a life is to save that entire world. To destroy a life is to destroy an entire world.
Respect Marriage
Do not commit immoral acts
The marriage of a man and a woman is a reflection of the Oneness of G‑d and His creation.
Respect Others' Property
Do not steal
Deal honestly in all your business. By relying on G‑d rather than our own conniving, we express trust in Him as the Provider of Life.
Respect All Creatures
Do not eat a limb from a living animal
Man was placed in the Garden to take care of it and protect it. Do not cause unnecessary suffering to any creature.
Pursue Justice
Establish courts of law
Justice is G‑d's business, but we are given the charge to lay down necessary laws and enforce them. When we right wrongs, we are partners in sustaining Creation.
These seven laws are not just a moral framework — they are humanity's role in the world's redemption. The Rebbe taught that spreading awareness of the Noahide Laws is one of the key steps toward a world of peace. Every person who accepts them becomes a builder of that world.
Ready to Accept?
I, child of Noah,
caretaker of our precious planet earth,
accept upon myself the responsibility for peace and oneness in our world,
as accepted by Adam and by Noah,
transmitted by Moses and his people over the ages.
May the nations beat their swords into plowshares. May the wolf lie down with the lamb. May the earth fill with wisdom as waters cover the ocean floor.
And may it be very soon, sooner than we imagine.
